T.M.I. Too Much Information. – Publicity & promotion – Biznik.

This is one of those in case you need reminding articles by Lindsay Berger, a copywriter and marketing maven. It goes to the heart of the matter of over sharing on socmedia. Information is good –  brain droppings need to go out with the cat litter.

This is a fascinating article about the language used to motivate click throughs on your blog or web site. Reminds me of what sales people refer to as “a call to action” except with some hard data to back it up.

Speaking of calls to action. I’m reminded of the time I worked for awhile doing advertising for a high end plumbing installation business in Jupiter, Florida where every community is gated and comes with it’s own golf course. Anyway I produced a direct mail piece that was just a well tanned and fit guy floating in his pool on an inflatable chair, sipping a drink. The tag line was “Don’t you have better things to worry about than your plumbing?” A not so subtle call to action appealing to a niche market.

They sold a lot of $2500 Toto Toilets off of that mailing.

Anyway, read the piece from Justin Curtis which was originally posted to Twitter by Preston D Lee of Graphic Design Blender
